In order to protect the Internet connections of their 28,000 employees, all police stations in Baden-Württemberg use ¸Browser in the Box from German IT security company Rohde & Schwarz Cybersecurity.
Police officers have to access the “dark” side of the Internet and all of its functions for investigations and evidence collection. Searching Facebook for information on people and companies, for example, is an everyday activity for investigators. They also have to access relevant forums to learn about current fraud strategies. For the police, this means that their infrastructure must be equipped with top‑level security to ward off such attacks.
