Designing a 5G FR2 phased array antenna module (PAAM) requires over-the-air (OTA) testing to measure parameters like equivalent isotropic radiated power (EIRP) and effective isotropic sensitivity (EIS) in addition to traditional radiation patterns. Rohde & Schwarz has joined Fujikura and Avnet to validate their new development kit for 5G mmWave phased array antenna modules. The R&S ATS800B benchtop CATR OTA test system from Rohde & Schwarz is ideal for prototype testing in an open environment.

The R&S®ATS800R CATR rack based antenna test system is designed for FR2 over-the-air measurements in R&D. Signaling test in the new mmWave-based 5G frequency of FR2 requires an OTA test setup. The R&S®ATS800R CATR rack based antenna test system is designed for FR2 over-the-air measurements in R&D.

The setup is based on the R&S CMP200 radio communication tester, the UWB OTA box and the R&S ATS800R shielding chamber, which includes a new tilt-tilt positioner. This positioner enables to test the performance of the phase difference of arrival (PDOA) in co-polarization with the test antenna.
