zweiB has long relied on the R&S®CLIPSTER platform for all its mastering, trusting it to ensure quality, reliability and productivity. Affirming its successful long-term partnership with Rohde & Schwarz and to future-proof its investment against continuing developments in content delivery, zweiB upgraded its installation to the latest version of the platform, the R&S®CLIPSTER 6 Mk 2.

Two additional UHD channels have gone on air using Rohde & Schwarz technology. In addition to Hollywood blockbusters (on demand), pay TV provider Sky Deutschland now also broadcasts selected UEFA Champions League and German national league (Bundesliga) matches live in UHD. Rohde & Schwarz products are used throughout the entire production chain – from ingest and storage to playout and the headend. Rohde & Schwarz and system integrator Qvest Media planned and implemented the project.

Case study: ARRI Media has integrated Rohde & Schwarz production tools throughout its operations and is frequently one of the first to adopt new Rohde & Schwarz products and systems when they become available.

Cineteca Nacional – the Mexican national film archive – has established a digital workflow for efficient archiving and playout of film material and to ensure they have the most up-to-date workflows that will grow with their requirements. Four R&S®SpycerBox Ultra TL systems are at the core of the workflow, quickly and reliably providing film data for further processing. The R&S®CLIPSTER mastering station is used for transcoding and for creating proxies. R&S®Fuze finalizes all material in different formats and also creates digital cinema packages (DCP).

R&S®CLIPSTER is a mastering workstation enabling content owners, content creators and service vendors to generate master files and deliverables with highest fidelity and efficiency. The system supports all common uncompressed and compressed single frame and container file formats for image data, as well as various audio and metadata formats, all of which are processed directly from their respective file sources without rendering intermediate files. Various hardware options are available to accelerate processing speed and enhance precision.

The current situation in the film industry with its tremendous amount of file formats, codecs and containers which exists to handle digital video data, is a real challenge when it comes to exchanging content. This scenario is caused due to the lack of a general standard for the exchange of digital video data, corresponding to the HDCAM-SR standard. Furthermore, there is no proper solution available for an easy distribution and transfer of a multitude of master versions, including different languages, subtitles and video inserts between business partners. To fill this gap the Interoperable Master Format (IMF) was created by the SMPTE (Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineer) members including Rohde & Schwarz and 186 well-known leading U.S. studios, manufacturers and vendors.

Molinare, the leading UK supplier of postproduction solutions, wanted a robust, reliable solution to achieve 16-bit EXR playback in realtime at 4K, 24 frames per second, and to master DCPs to deadline, on time, every time. For Molinare there was only one choice – the R&S®CLIPSTER, version 6.

EUROTAPE Nordkurier TV and Studio GmbH & Co.KG provides mastering and related services on behalf of all major broadcasters in Germany. Its work ranges from digitization and restoration to dubbing, transcoding and delivery.
