For mitigating radio interference, Rohde & Schwarz offers a comprehensive toolset. The solutions allow regulatory bodies to detect, identify and locate the unwanted emissions. As the sources of interference are as diverse as the signals that become interfered, regulatory authorities need different systems and procedures. Rohde & Schwarz provides fixed stations for detecting radio interferences within their coverage range, transportable systems for locally and sporadically appearing interference, mobile units for homing in on ominous radiations, aerial systems for interferences the microwave range or in dense, urban areas and portable equipment for tracing the unwanted emissions on the last meters.

Geo-locating unwanted transmitters

For geo-locating emissions in a larger distance, interference hunting systems can be operated in cars with direction finding antennas on the vehicle roof. With the support of intelligent homing algorithms for detecting the emitters, such mobile applications can permanently guide operators to the emission source via an effective indication on digital maps.

Sporadically active interference

Interference that occurs only once in a while and no fixed monitoring station is nearby, temporarily deployed systems are required. Equipped with tripods, transport boxes and compact antennas such systems provide flexibility and easy operation. This setup allows unattended detecting and tracking of sporadically active interferers. Once the system detects such unwanted emission, it can start automatic routines for effectively identifying and direction finding the source of interference.

The last meters

On the last few meters, where vehicles often have no access, interference hunters use portable equipment. This configuration allows efficient monitoring and locating of unwanted emissions, even at mobile radio stations, including gNodeB.

Aerial interference hunting

Interference hunting at positions, where access is difficult, special systems are required. At microwave point-to-point transceiver stations, aerial monitoring systems can perform investigations on interferences high above ground. Also, in densely built urban areas with high buildings, the system can detect and home in on any emission for determining its location.
