A core capability introduced by 6G will be joint communication and sensing (JCAS). This is expected to open up a wide range of use cases. For example, today’s XR applications record their surroundings in 3D using sensor technologies. With JCAS, an XR device could communicate with other devices, such as a mobile phone or car, over the cellular network.
6G will cover wider bandwidths, enabling resolutions on the millimeterwave (mmWave) scale. It will be possible to translate the smallest movements into the virtual world, supporting the 6G vision of creating an authentic digital twin of the physical world.
