Multi full disk encryption for classified information by Rohde & Schwarz Cybersecurity

The proven R&S® Trusted Disk full disk encryption solution from IT security expert Rohde & Schwarz Cybersecurity now enables RESTRICTED-compliant multi-disk encryption of up to eight internal hard disks.

Munich, June 15th, 2023 — The trustworthy processing and encryption of classified information is mandatory and regulated by law for public authorities, organizations and companies subject to secrecy. When server platforms are a core element of the IT infrastructure, all hard disks must be reliably secured. This is especially the case with deployable server systems, where data must be secured while in transit. "We are pleased to enable transparent, real-time encryption of up to eight internal hard disks with the new version of R&S Trusted Disk," says Clemens A. Schulz, Director Endpoint Security at Rohde & Schwarz Cybersecurity. "And this also works on Microsoft Windows Server operating systems, since R&S Trusted Disk also has RESTRICTED approval for these operating systems."

Today's hard disks have enormous storage capacities, making it possible to store a large proportion of sensitive data locally. Notebooks in particular, but also mobile data carriers such as USB sticks or portable hard disks, are easy to steal or are accidentally left behind. R&S Trusted Disk prevents unauthorized persons from accessing sensitive data from these devices in the event of loss or theft. In addition to the data, the full disk encryption can also secure the entire operating system as well as access to mobile data carriers such as USB sticks or external hard disks.

R&S Trusted Disk was developed on the basis of the recommendations by the German Federal Office for Information Security (BSI) and is approved up to RESTRICTED. It includes secure random number generation as well as a flexible recoding option that ensure that the data stays highly secured at all times.

For the entire encryption process, only a smart card is required, which enables high security while maintaining productivity. R&S Trusted Disk can be easily and quickly installed and deployed both for standalone workstations and with a central management system within corporate networks. In addition, a maintenance mode enables IT administrators to perform fully automatic reboots without user interaction.
